Not so often at a farmer's market do you see vegetables displayed so creatively. We have a few in Edmonton open all year long - and I could not live without them. I spend the bulk of my food budget at the market. Everything tastes better and you get to meet the people that grew it. Is anything better than that? Did you like the purple carrots? They are really pretty, but I find them woody and not very tasty at all... so, nice in a salad sliced really thin for the look. And, when they are cooked - they lose all of that beauty! Can't wait to read what you pickle!
A Canadian Foodie: I know, I could totally live at this place, I am so thankful that it's open all year round! A while back I actually bought the multi-colour carrots (including the purple) and liked them, but yeah, I'd have to say the darker the carrot the wooder it is.
